Causes of blackheads
Blackheads occur when sebum, dead cells and bacteria drain into the hundreds
of tiny pores on our bodies and the pores become blocked, the skin pigments within the pore turns black via
oxidisation, leaving a black head. These are often mistaken for dirt, but this is a common misconception, it
is infact not dirt at all, this is what is known as a blackhead myth.
For some, blackheads are the bane of their lives and they have hundreds of
them on their face and bodies, where as others have none at all. Why?
Blackheads and acne are most common with people who have Oily skin, as this type of skin produces loads
of excess oils which clog up the pores and eventually cause blackheads to form.
Here are the main causes of blackheads, by knowing what causes blackheads, makes you
better prepared to treat them;
- Not enough water within the body to flush out toxins, this means toxins are
flushed out through the skin pores, which could cause blackheads.
- Too much exess oils being excreted from the skin.
- Dead skin cells, bacteria or oils blocking up the skin
pores.
- Excess scrubbing, washing or irritation of the face. BLACKHEADS ARE NOT CAUSED
BY DIRT!
- Ineffective facial cleansing, not all the oil and dead skin cells is being
removed
- Medical problems can also cause blackheads, such as;
-
- Indigestion
- Constipation
- Under active thyroid
- Anemia
All these factors can play a role in causing blackheads.
Facial Blackheads
These are often seen as the most distressing as they are on the most prominant part
of your body; your face. These affect all age groups and are caused when sebum is excreted and clogs up the pores
AND is then aggravated by further factors such as;
- Hormones
- Oily make-up
- Humid conditions

The worst hit areas are usually the T-Zone, which is the nose and forehead. Why is the T-Zone so prone to blackheads? Well the main
reason is that every day of your life, you will touch you face - conciously or subconciously, 85 times a day?
And do you REALLY know how clean or sterile your hands are? This spreads dirt and bacteria onto the sensitive skin
on your face and can cause pores to become blocked.
